How does clean energy work?
When you purchase your electricity supply from NYC Clean Energy,™ we in turn purchase an amount of Renewable Energy Credits (“RECS”) issued by renewable energy generators (wind, hydro, solar) to match your electricity usage.
This means that every time you pay your bill, a portion of what you spend goes to a renewable energy generator. This provides a supportive revenue stream and encourages furher renewable energy development.
Will the way my electricity is delivered change?
No. Your electricity is delivered exactly the same way it was before. Its delivery and reliability do not change, your local utility still handles delivery and billing.
Will I need any new equipment to power my business or home?
When switching to NYC Clean Energy™ there’s no additional or new equipment needed to power your business or home.
How reliable will my electricity be after I switch?
Your power delivery will have the same reliability as before, except for the fact that part of your bill is now going to support renewable energy.
Will there be any interruption to my power when the switch is made?
No. The switch to NYC Clean Energy is seamless. And there will be no interruption to your power supply as result of the switch.
How will my billing change?
Most of your billing information will remain the same, except NYC Clean Energy™ will be listed as your supplier.
What is the difference between a variable and fixed rate plan?
On a fixed rate plan you lock in the rate for 12 months. On a variable you’re subject to the fluctuation in rates. Our fixed rate plan is more popular.
Who do I call in case of power outage?
In case of power interruption or outage you will need to contact your local utility company which continues to deliver your power.
What do I need to do if I move?
Contact our customer service and we guide you through a simple and seamless process.

Along with switching to clean and renewable energy you can also reduce consumption through energy efficiency.
